FINEX REVIVES THE FOUNDATION FOR FILIPINO ENTREPRENEURSHIP...A BOON TO SMEs
After a long hiatus, The Foundation For Filipino Entrepreneurship, Inc. or better known as FFEI has come alive!
In a special meeting held last October 20, the general membership, in a unanimous vote, agreed to revive the Foundation which found its roots in 1988 as a creation of the SME Committee of Finex.
The current Finex Board deemed it not only important but urgent to give the FFEI, after 6 years of inactivity, a new lease in life in order to pursue the objectives of the Foundation which was organized primarily to espouse the interests of small and medium enterprises or SMEs.
Elected in the interim and in holdover capacity until the next elections and annual meeting in February 2011 were Greg Navarro as Chairman, Bobby Borromeo as President, Vic dela Dingco as Vice President, Ed Francisco as Treasurer and Fred Javellana as Corporate Secretary. Other members elected to the Board of Trustees include, Archit Bartolome, Josue Camba, Flor Tarriela, Val Araneta, Omar Cruz, Dennis Decena, Ronnie Alcantara, Santi Dumlao, Mitch Gomez, and Frank Ysaac.
The revival of FFEI signifies the serious desire and conscious effort of FINEX to help advance the cause of SMEs in the country. It is expected that the Foundation, under the new leadership, will give it the proper guidance, direction and support to an advocacy that is aimed at providing SMEs capacity-building programs, help enhance their creditworthiness and therefore gain access to financing needed to sustain their operations. FFEI will thus play its rightful and vital role for which it was established 22 years ago.
